Heyas beautiful rock lickers ♥ This is the 2nd trip for 1st years and higher to study some basic structural geology and learn more about the Lachlan Fold Belt... I'm thinking about making this a biannual thing... Hrm. What to expect to learn about: -Glacial deposits -How to use the compass -Stratigraphic principles -Basic structural geology (what are folds, cleavages and bedding orientations?) -Intro to vergence -The Lachlan Fold Belt and in particular, the Bendigo-Ballarat zone Here, we'll explore some beautiful gorges made of siciliclastic sequences which have been folded and deformed over primarily one generation of orogeny. We will be in the Bendigo-Ballarat Zone This is a ONE DAY field trip and so camping equipment is not necessary. Things to bring: -Sunscreen -Rain coat*** -Water -Food/snacks -Compass*** -Clipboard -Hand lens -Field notebook (or anything you can write on) + other writing utensils YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR YOUR OWN TRANSPORT BUT WE CAN ORGANISE CARPOOLING. There is a small charge to cover for field materials and teaching. This will be $10 and can be paid via cash or direct debit. Stay tuned for more updates. I will post the location of where we are meeting very soon ♥
